Utilising either cementitiuos renders (often referred to as 'tanking') or the installation of a cavity membrane system we can turn damp, water damaged or flooded basements into dry, usable areas that add value and make great financial sense.
Basement Conversion Methodology
We believe in thorough site investigation and full consultation with clients before the process of designing and installing an appropriate waterproofing solution can begin. With any cellar or basement below ground, there will always be the risk of water penetrating through the walls or floor. A basement refurbishment scheme cannot be considered before first making sure that you have control of both the current moisture within the building and also, the humidity and temperature.
We typically offer two waterproofing solutions dependent upon site conditions. It is not uncommon to combine the two systems for optimum results.
Cavity Membrane Systems
A semi-transparent, studded cavity drainage membrane manufactured from polypropylene which is applied to walls, floors and ceilings by means of special sealed fixing plugs. The membrane is relatively quick to install and can be covered with plaster board or a screed to enable decoration works to be undertaken. A sump and pump is fitted as part of the drainage system.
Cementitious Render Systems
A multi-coat waterproofing system composed of a waterproofing agent and cement-based powder which is mixed with water then applied to walls, floors, and ceilings by spray or trowel. It sets to form a bond with the masonry substrate, creating an impervious barrier to the movement of water.
